Calling all Superstars

Posted on Tuesday 28 November 2006

andy warhol was famous for his screen tests. filmed primarily from early 1964 until late 1966, anyone who passed through the silver door with that certain “something” would be asked to sit for one.the only rules for sitting for a screen test were to remain completely still and to try not to blink during the four minute filming.warhol’s intention was to obtain “living portraits.”when asked to sit, the subjects were filimed by a 16mm Bolex camera on silent, black and white, 100-foot rolls of film. and thus, warhol’s idea of superstars began by handpicking actors who were interesting enough just as they were on film - no roles were necessary. allen ginsberg, jonas mekas, nico, lou reed, bob dylan, billy name, salvador dali, danny fields and of course, miss edie sedgwick, were among the many who were filmed. in fact, according to warholstars.org, edie was still recovering from her car accident at the time of her screen test.

here’s where we need YOU.
we want to you all to be the next superstars! send us your screen tests to blog@edienation.com and see them featured on the official site and myspace. you can upload to youtube, myspace or just email them to us. make sure they’re under 60 seconds and under 2MB’s in size. to view new video footage of edie and more information about the screentests, visit our myspace at www.myspace.com/ediegirlonfire
